Artificial Lawns:
Are They Worth It?

When replacing real grass with a maintenance-free ground cover that looks and feels like real grass, families hoped to have a safer place to enjoy family activities. The question remains: Have synthetic lawns turned out to be as great as they were reported to be.

Consider that a synthetic lawn does not need to be mowed, edged, fertilized, weeded, replaced or watered. As far as maintenance goes, the artificial turf does live up to its promises. Without water and soil, weeds cannot grow, so there is no weeding necessary. Since the turf doesn't grow, there's no need to mow either. You never have to worry about whether it's getting enough sun either. All that needs to be done, quite literally , is enjoy it.

Happily, homeowners are even more happy with the artificial grass than they thought they would be. This is especially true for families with children and pets.

During the rainy season, most lawns typically flood. Pooling and muddy water collects in patches. This draws kids like a magnet. And who wants to have to clean up after muddy kids and pets?

Because synthetic grass drains so efficiently and never gets muddy, benefits exceed expectations. You no longer have to worry about grass stains on clothes or mud being tracked in from outside. That means reduced wear and tear on your home, as well as your person.

Heavy rains? Not a problem. The lawns are designed to drain efficiently so that down-times are minimized. And if you have to clean the lawn after a pet, you just hose it off. Pets also won't leave discolored or odorous spots behind, or leave dead spots in the middle of your nice lawn.

If you have a pool, you should see your cleaning bills go down. Now you won't have to fret over grass clippings and debris falling into the pool or filter.
